Urimax D Tablet Overview:

Urimax D Tablet is a combination medicine, used to treat symptoms of an enlarged prostate in men, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). BPH is a noncancerous growth of the prostate gland, caused by excessive or abnormal production of the dihydrotestosterone hormone.

When the prostate gland gets larger, it can press on the urethra and cause urinary symptoms such as difficulty in starting to urinate, frequent and urgent need to urinate, incomplete bladder emptying, and pain during or after urination. If not treated, Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia can lead to a complete blockage of urine flow, known as acute urinary retention, which requires urgent medical care. In severe cases, surgery may be needed to remove part or all of the prostate.

Dutasteride and Tamsulosin work together to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia by reducing the production of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and relaxing the muscles in the prostate. This helps shrink the prostate, relieve urinary symptoms, and lower the risk of prostate surgery.

Composition of Urimax D Tablet:

Each film coated Urimax D Tablet contains Tamsulosin Hydrochloride (as modified release tablets) 0.4 mg and Dutasteride 0.5 mg.

Uses and Benefits of Urimax D Tablet:

Urimax D Tablet is used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men and helps manage the following symptoms:

• Shrinks the prostate size

•  Relaxes muscles in the prostate and bladder neck

• Relieves urinary symptoms like: difficulty in urination, frequent and urgent need to urinate, pain during or after urination

• Improves urine flow

• Reduces the risk of acute urinary retention (AUR)

• Lowers the chance of needing prostate surgery related to BPH

How Urimax D Tablet works:

Urimax D Tablet contains two active ingredients: Tamsulosin and Dutasteride, which work in different ways to treat Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH).

Dutasteride belongs to the group of medicines called 5-alpha reductase inhibitors that work by reducing the production of the hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is responsible for prostate growth. By lowering DHT levels, Dutasteride reduces the size of the prostate and helps prevent it from getting larger, which relieves pressure on the bladder and improves urination over time.

Tamsulosin, on the other hand, relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck. This helps make urination easier and relieves symptoms like a weak urine stream, difficulty starting urination, and the frequent or urgent need to urinate.

When the prostate gland is enlarged, it can cause urinary problems such as difficulty starting to urinate, a weak stream, frequent urination, or a feeling that the bladder is not completely empty. However, the exact cause of BPH is not fully understood, with several factors believed to contribute, such as overproduction of the hormone testosterone and its more active form, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), ageing, certain growth factors that can stimulate the proliferation of prostate cells, genetics, and lifestyle.
