About Tenebetic M 500 mg Tablet:

Each uncoated bilayered Tenebetic M 500 mg tablet contains Teneligliptin Hydrobromide Hydrate equivalent to Teneligliptin 20 mg, Metformin Hydrochloride 500 mg (In Sustained release form) and Excipients q.s.

Teneligliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor, which is believed to exert its actions in patients with type 2 diabetes by slowing the inactivation of incretin hormones i.e. glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). By increasing and prolonging active incretin levels, teneligliptin increases insulin release and decreases glucagon levels in the circulation in a glucose-dependent manner.

Metformin improves glucose tolerance in patients with type-2 diabetes (NIDDM), lowering both basal and postprandial plasma glucose. Metformin decreases hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal absorption of glucose, and improves insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization.

Use of Tenebetic M 500 mg Tablet:

Tenebetic M 500 mg tablet is used to prescribe for the treatment of Type II Diabetes Mellitus.

This drug product is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with both teneligliptin and metformin extended release is appropriate.

Usage direction of Tenebetic M 500 mg Tablet:

• Tenebetic M 500 mg tablet is intended for oral use only.
• Tenebetic M 500 mg tablet should be administered with food to reduce the gastrointestinal side effects associated with the metformin component.
• Tenebetic M 500 mg tablet should be swallowed whole.
• Tenebetic M 500 mg tablet must not be split, crushed or chewed before swallowing.

Precaution & Related information of Tenebetic M 500 mg Tablet:

Precaution should be taken & consult with the physician during following conditions-

• Hypersensitivity to the drug or any of its components.
• Severe ketosis, diabetic coma or pre-coma and type 1 diabetes.
• Severe trauma, before and after surgery and in severe infections.
• Renal failure or renal dysfunction which may also result from conditions such as cardiovascular collapse (shock), acute myocardial infarction, and septicemia.
• Acute or chronic disease which may cause tissue hypoxia such as: cardiac or respiratory failure, recent myocardial infarction, shock.
• Hepatic insufficiency, acute alcohol intoxication, alcoholism (due to the metformin component) this medicinal should be temporarily discontinued in patients undergoing radiologic studies involving intravascular administration of iodinated contrast materials because use of such products may result in acute alteration of renal function.
• Before taking this medication consult with the physician due to its interaction with other drugs.
• Consult with the physician during pregnancy & lactation.
• Store below 25ºC, away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
• Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
