About Protussa Cough Syrup:
Each 5 ml (One Teaspoonful Approx.) of Protussa Cough syrup contains Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide 5 mg and Chlorpheniramine Maleate 1 mg in a flavoured syrupy base q.s.
Dextromethorphan, a centrally-acting antitussive agent, depresses the medullary cough center through sigma receptor stimulation, resulting to decreased sensitivity of cough receptors and interruption of cough impulse transmission.
Chlorpheniramine binds to the histamine H1 receptor. These blocks the action of endogenous histamine, which subsequently leads to temporary relief of the negative symptoms brought on by histamine.
Use of Protussa Cough Syrup:
Protussa Cough syrup is a combination medication, prescribed for the management of dry cough and upper respiratory symptoms associated with allergic conditions.
Usage direction of Protussa Cough Syrup:
• Protussa Cough syrup should be taken orally.
• Keep the cap tightly closed after every use.
• Do not skip or stop the medicine without the physician's advice.
• Do not consume more than the prescribed quantity.
