About Montewok LC Tablet:

Each film coated Montewok LC tablet contains Montelukast Sodium equivalent to Montelukast 10 mg, Levocetirizine Hhydrochloride 5 mg and Excipients q.s.

Levocetirizine is an antihistamine, and its principal effects are mediated via selective inhibition of histamine H1 receptors. This action prevents histamine from activating this receptor and causing effects like smooth muscle contraction, increased permeability of vascular endothelium, histidine uptake in basophils, stimulation of cough receptors, and stimulation of flare responses in the nervous system.

Montelukast is a leukotriene inhibitor. Leukotrienes are chemicals that the body releases when an allergen (such as pollen) was breathed in. These chemicals cause swelling in the lungs and tightening of the muscles around the airways, which can result in asthma symptoms. Montelukast binds with high affinity to the cysteinyl leukotriene type-1 (CysLT1) receptor and inhibits physiologic actions of LTD4 at the CysLT1 receptor without any agonist activity. It, therefore, acts as a leukotriene receptor antagonist.
