Levera 250 Tablet is an antiepileptic medicine containing Levetiracetam, commonly used to control seizures in people with epilepsy.
Epilepsy is a neurological disorder in which repeated seizures occur due to sudden abnormal electrical activity in the brain. These seizures may affect consciousness, emotions, muscle movements, or behaviour.
Levera 250 Tablet is used alone to treat partial onset seizures, where seizures start on one side of the brain and may later spread to both sides, in adults and adolescents aged 16 years and above with newly diagnosed epilepsy.
It can also be used in combination with other antiepileptic medicines to manage partial onset seizures, myoclonic seizures, and generalized tonic-clonic seizures in children, adolescents, and adults, based on age and type of epilepsy.
Composition:
Each film coated Levera 250 Tablet contains: Levetiracetam 250 mg and Excipients q.s.
Colours: Ferric Oxide Red & Titanium Dioxide
Uses & Benefits of Levera 250 Tablet:
Levera 250 Tablet is used alone or in combination with other anticonvulsant medicines to manage seizures associated with epilepsy. It is used to manage and control the following types of seizures:
- Partial-onset seizures: These seizures begin in a specific area of the brain and may spread to both sides of the brain.
- Myoclonic seizures: These cause sudden, brief, shock-like jerks of a muscle or group of muscles and are seen in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and above.
- Generalized tonic-clonic seizures: These seizures affect the entire body and commonly occur in people with idiopathic generalized epilepsy, a form of epilepsy believed to have a genetic origin.
How Does Levera 250 Tablet Work:
Levera 250 Tablet contains Levetiracetam, which helps control seizures by calming overactive nerve cells in the brain. It works by attaching to a special protein (SV2A) on nerve cells. This reduces the release of chemical messengers that cause sudden and abnormal electrical activity, leading to seizures. By slowing down these signals, the medicine helps prevent seizures without affecting normal brain function.
Dosage of Levera 250 Tablet:
- Usage Direction
Take Levera 250 Tablet strictly according to your doctor’s instructions, following the prescribed dose and timing. Levera 250 Tablet should be swallowed whole with the help of water and not be chewed, cut, or crushed, preferably at the same time each day.
Do not stop or alter the dose of Levera 250 Tablet without consulting your doctor, as this may prevent you from achieving the desired outcome. If you are unsure about the administration procedures of Levera 250, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
- Missed Dose
If you miss a dose of Levera 250 Tablet, take it as soon as you remember on the same day. But, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and continue following your regular dosing schedule. Do not attempt to take two doses if you have forgotten one. You can set reminders on your smartphone, keep drug organizer boxes, or use other audio-visual technologies to prevent missing a dose.

If you mistakenly take an excess of Levera 250 Tablet beyond your prescribed dosage, it is vital to seek immediate medical assistance, as this could lead to significant health risks. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):
Q1. Is Levera 250 Tablet a habit-forming drug?
A: No, Levera 250 Tablet is not habit-forming drug. It does not cause dependence, addiction, or cravings. However, it should be taken regularly as prescribed to control seizures. Do not stop the medicine suddenly, as abrupt discontinuation may increase the risk of seizures. Always consult your doctor before making any changes to the dosage or stopping the medication.
Q2. How long can I take Levera 250 Tablet?
A: Levera 250 Tablet can be taken for as long as your doctor advises. Epilepsy is usually a long-term condition, and this medicine helps control seizures but does not cure the disease. The duration of treatment depends on factors such as the type of seizures, how well the medicine works for you, your age, and your overall health. A: If you notice any changes in your mood or behaviour while taking Levera 250 Tablet, such as feeling unusually sad, anxious, irritable, aggressive, or having thoughts of self-harm, contact your doctor immediately. Do not ignore these symptoms or stop the medicine on your own. Your doctor may adjust the dose, monitor you more closely, or change the treatment if needed. Q4. Will Levera 250 Tablet cure my epilepsy?
A. No, Levera 250 Tablet does not cure epilepsy. It helps control and reduce seizures by stabilizing abnormal electrical activity in the brain. Epilepsy is usually a long-term condition, so ongoing treatment is often needed to keep seizures under control.

Always take Levera 250 Tablet under medical supervision to ensure safe use.
