About Duet DS 228.5 mg Suspension:
Duet DS 228.5 mg Suspension is a combination of two antibacterial medicines, indicated for the treatment of various susceptible bacterial infections in children.
Each 5 ml of reconstituted suspension of Duet DS 228.5 mg Suspension contains Amoxycillin Trihydrate equivalent to Amoxycillin 200 mg and Potassium Clavulanate Diluted equivalent to Clavulanic Acid 28.5 mg.
Amoxycillin belongs to a class of antibacterial medicines. It prevents bacterial infections by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, which is required for the bacteria to grow and multiply.
Clavulanic acid belongs to a class of antibacterial medicines. It acts by inactivating some beta-lactamase enzymes that are produced by bacteria, thereby, preventing bacteria from destroying Amoxycillin.
Uses of Duet DS 228.5 mg Suspension:
Duet DS 228.5 mg Suspension is prescribed for the treatment of various susceptible bacterial infections including lower respiratory tract infections, otitis media (ear infection), sinusitis (sinus infection), skin & skin structure infections, and urinary tract infections in children.
Usage Direction of Duet DS 228.5 mg Suspension:
- Duet DS 228.5 mg Suspension is intended for oral use only, in a dose and direction as prescribed by the physician.
- Duet DS 228.5 mg Suspension is for paediatric use only.
- Shake the bottle to loosen powder.
- Twist & open the vial of sterile water given with the pack.
- Slowly add sterile water into the bottle upto the ring mark.
- Put the cap and shake the bottle vigorously.
- Adjust the volume upto the ring mark by adding more sterile water, if necessary and shake again.
- Shake well before use.
- Do not skip or stop the medicine without the physician’s advice.
- Do not exceed the stated recommended daily dosage.
