Cyra D Capsule Overview:

Cyra D Capsule is a combination medicine used to treat symptoms of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) and related digestive issues, caused by excess stomach acid.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease occurs when stomach acid flows back into the food pipe (esophagus), leading to heartburn and possible esophageal injury.

Cyra D Capsule contains two active ingredients- Rabeprazole and Domperidone. Rabeprazole reduces acid production in the stomach, and Domperidone helps food move more easily through the digestive system.

Together, they effectively relieve post-meal symptoms of fullness, bloating, nausea, indigestion, heartburn, stomach pain, peptic ulcers, and other symptoms caused by hyper-acidity.

Composition:

Each hard gelatin capsule contains- Rabeprazole Sodium (As enteric coated pellets): 20 mg, Domperidone (10 mg as immediate release and 20 mg as sustained release pellets): 30 mg.

Colours: Red Oxide Iron, Brilliant Blue FCF, Tartrazine Yellow & Titanium Dioxide.

Approved colours used in capsule shell.

Uses and Benefits of Cyra D Capsule:

Cyra D Capsule is prescribed for the following conditions:

  • Provides long-lasting relief from GERD (acid reflux) by preventing stomach acid from flowing back into the esophagus, reducing heartburn and irritation.
  • Lowers excess stomach acid to ease bloating, acidity, and acid-related indigestion.
  • Relieves chronic indigestion symptoms such as post-meal fullness, bloating, and upper abdominal pain.
  • Effectively controls nausea and vomiting linked to various digestive disorders.
  • Helps heal peptic ulcers and manage Zollinger–Ellison syndrome by reducing excessive stomach acid production.

How Cyra D Capsule works:

Cyra D Capsule contains two active ingredients: Rabeprazole and Domperidone, which work together to treat conditions caused by too much stomach acid and improve digestion.

Rabeprazole is a selective Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) that works by blocking the proton pump in the stomach lining, which is responsible for producing gastric acid. Inhibiting this enzyme, it effectively reduces stomach acid production, lowering acidity and helping to treat conditions like GERD, acid reflux, and peptic ulcers.

Domperidone, on the other hand, is a gastroprokinetic and anti-nausea drug. It works by blocking dopamine receptors in the upper part of the digestive system, helping food move through the stomach and preventing nausea and vomiting.

Dosage of Cyra D Capsule:

  • Usage Direction

Cyra D Capsule should be taken as prescribed by your doctor, typically 15-30 minutes before a meal, preferably in the morning, on an empty stomach. Swallow the capsule whole with water and do not crush, chew, or break it. The dosage and duration depend on your condition, age, and medical history, so follow your doctor’s instructions carefully. For best results, take it at the same time each day to maintain a consistent level of the medicine in your body. Do not stop or change the dosage of Cyra D without consulting your doctor, as this may prevent you from achieving the desired results. If you are unsure about the method of administration of Cyra D, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

  • Missed Dose

If you forget to take a dose of Cyra D Capsule, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Never take two doses at once to make up for a missed one, as this can increase the risk of side effects. If you frequently forget doses, consider setting a reminder or discussing with your doctor for better management.

  • Overdose

Taking more than the recommended dose of Cyra D Capsule can be harmful and may lead to symptoms like confusion, dizziness, sleepiness, anxiety, or even seizures in severe cases. If you suspect an overdose, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital. To avoid accidental overdose, always stick to the prescribed dose and keep the medicine out of reach of children.

Contraindications of Cyra D Capsule:

Do not take Cyra D Capsule if you are allergic or hypersensitive to rabeprazole, other proton pump inhibitors, domperidone, other dopamine antagonists, or any other ingredients of this medication.  Cyra D Capsule should also be avoided if you have serious heart conditions, including heart failure, irregular rhythms (like prolonged QT interval), or recent heart attacks, due to Domperidone's potential to affect heart electrical activity. Avoid it entirely if you have moderate to severe liver or kidney disease, a pituitary tumor (prolactinoma), gastrointestinal bleeding or blockage, or electrolyte imbalances like low potassium or magnesium.

Precautions & Warnings of Cyra D Capsule:

Before starting Cyra D Capsule, inform your doctor about any history of liver, kidney, heart problems, osteoporosis, low vitamin B12, or low magnesium levels. Long-term use may increase the risk of bone fractures, vitamin B12 deficiency, or low magnesium, so supplements and regular monitoring may be needed—especially in elderly patients. People over 60 should be monitored for heart-related effects. The medicine may cause dizziness or drowsiness, so avoid driving if affected. Seek medical help for severe or persistent diarrhea. Avoid taking aluminum- or magnesium-based antacids close to this medicine.

Side Effects of Cyra D Capsule:

Cyra D Capsule may cause side effects in some people, though most are mild and temporary. Common effects include headache, dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, diarrhea or constipation, stomach pain, gas, skin rash, cough, or sore throat, which often improve as the body adjusts. To help manage these, drink plenty of water, avoid foods that may cause gas, eat fibre-rich foods, and rest if you experience lightheadedness.

Seek medical help immediately if you notice breathing difficulty, facial or throat swelling, severe rash, irregular heartbeat, fainting, severe stomach pain, black or bloody stools, yellowing of skin or eyes, urine changes, muscle spasms, seizures, or persistent diarrhea. Rarely, Domperidone may cause breast changes or menstrual irregularities.

Safety Related Concerns of Cyra D Capsule:

  • Pregnancy

Cyra D Capsule is generally not recommended during pregnancy, as animal studies suggest potential harm to the developing baby, and human data is limited. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, consult your doctor as your doctor may suggest safer alternatives to manage your symptoms during pregnancy.

  • Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding mothers are advised to avoid Cyra D Capsule, as it may pass through breast milk and can cause side effects in breastfed babies. Therefore, it is important to consult your doctor before taking Cyra D Capsule while breastfeeding. They may recommend stopping breastfeeding, closely monitoring the baby for side effects, or switching to a different medication.

  • Alcohol

Although the direct interaction between Cyra D Capsule and alcohol has not been determined, alcohol can increase stomach acid, worsen acid reflux, and increase the risk of side effects such as dizziness and irregular heartbeat. Therefore, it is generally advisable to avoid alcohol while undergoing treatment with this Capsule. If you notice any unusual symptoms after drinking alcohol while taking Cyra D Capsule, contact your doctor immediately.

  • Food Interaction

To get the best results from Cyra D Capsule, avoid spicy, fried, or fatty foods, as these can trigger acid reflux and worsen symptoms. It is also a good idea to cut down on acidic foods like citrus fruits or tomatoes and caffeinated drinks like coffee or tea, which can irritate the stomach. Eating smaller, more frequent meals and avoiding late-night snacks can help improve the medicine’s effectiveness and reduce discomfort.

  • Drug Interaction

Cyra D Capsule can interact with several medicines, so it is important to tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, and herbal supplements you use.

Rabeprazole can reduce absorption of ketoconazole, itraconazole, and increase effects of warfarin, diazepam, and phenytoin. Domperidone should be avoided with QT-prolonging drugs (certain antiarrhythmics, antipsychotics), ketoconazole, and CYP3A4 inhibitors due to cardiac risks. Concurrent use with anticholinergics reduces domperidone's effectiveness. Avoid with other proton pump inhibitors.

  • Driving & Using Machinery

Cyra D Capsule may cause dizziness, sleepiness, or blurred vision in some people. If you experience these side effects, avoid driving, operating heavy machinery, or doing tasks that require focus until you know how the medicine affects you. If these symptoms persist, talk to your doctor about adjusting your treatment.

Storage of Cyra D Capsule:

Store in a cool, dark and dry place.

Do not use Cyra D Capsule past its expiration date printed on the package. Dispose of expired or unused medications properly according to local guidelines or take them to a pharmacy take-back program. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.

Additional Notes:

  • Eating smaller, more frequent meals, maintaining a healthy and balanced diet, along with regular exercise, can help improve your condition.

  • Contact your doctor if symptoms do not improve or worsen after completing the prescribed course.

Q1. What is Cyra D Capsule used for?

A: Cyra D Capsule is used to manage conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), acid reflux, peptic ulcers, and indigestion. This combination helps in providing relief from acid-related conditions and improving overall digestive health.

Q2. What is the ideal time to take Cyra D Capsule, before food or after food?

A: Take Pan D Capsule with or without food, as recommended by your doctor based on your condition.
