Product Description:

Colgen W Collagen Sheet is a sterile wet biological dressing. It is used in 2nd-degree, non-infected burns, superficial burns, deep dermal burns, 3rd degree burns (as a temporary cover after escharectomy/tangential excision), chronic skin ulcers, dermabrasion, etc.

Sterile Type-I Collagen Content NLT 90%.

Usage Direction:

Colgen W Collagen Sheet should be used externally by registered medical practitioners / hospital / laboratory only. Use as directed by the physician.

Directions For Use:

  1. Pre Application: Clean and decontaminate the wound area thoroughly. Debride infected or necrotic wounds thoroughly. Ensure satisfactory haemostasis on skin donor sites. 
  2. Application: Remove Colgen W sheet, squeeze gently & rinse thoroughly in sterile saline, to remove the preserving medium.  Apply Colgen W sheet firmly on the raw area for good adhesion and ensure air bubbles are removed. Avoid overstretching the sheet as it may tear the Colgen W sheet or may be applied on either surface.
  3. Post Application: The option of secondary dressing is left to the doctor’s choice. Colgen W sheet peels off as epithelialization occurs.
  4. In cases where adhered sheet Colgen W preserved has to be removed from the wound, a pad moistened with saline can be applied over Colgen W sheet for a few minutes, to assist easy removal.
  5. Before application always go through the leaflet or label instruction that comes with the product.

Indications for Use: 

  • 2nd degree, non-infected burns, superficial and deep dermal burns.
  • 3rd degree burns -- As a temporary cover after escharectomy/tangential excision skin donor sites.
  • Skin Ulcer (chronic) -- Stasis, Arterial or Tropic, Pressure ulcers (shallow) and Leprosy ulcers.
  • Dermabrasion -- Traumatic loss of skin cover.
  • Open fractures -- As temporary skin cover.

Safety & Related Information:

  • Colgen W Collagen Sheet is for single use only.
  • Avoid using ColGen W sheets on patients who are hypersensitive to Collagen.
  • Grossly infected wounds may reject Colgen W sheet.
  • Discard the preserving fluid.
  • Do not use if the pack is damaged or opened.
  • Sterility is not guaranteed if the pack is damaged or opened.

Storage Conditions:

  • Colgen W Collagen Sheet can be stored at room temperature not exceeding 40°C.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Note: Repeat dressing may not be required unless the Colgen W Collagen Sheet is rejected due to underlying pus or complications. For chronic skin ulcers, 2-3 applications of Colgen W wet sheet in intervals of 3-4 days can be done after a thorough debridement. Cleaning should enhance healing. Colgen W wet sheet promotes healthy granulation in deep wounds for early grafting.
