About Betnovate S Oint:

Betnovate S Ointment is a combination medicine, indicated for the thickening of the outer layer of the skin and dry skin diseases.

Betnovate S Ointment contains Betamethasone Valerate equivalent to Betamethasone 0.10% w/w, Salicylic Acid 3.0% w/w.

Betamethasone belongs to a class of steroid medicine. It acts by inhibiting the production of certain chemicals (inflammatory mediators) in the body, responsible for causing pain and inflammation.

Salicylic Acid is a keratolytic (peeling agent) medicine. It acts by breaking down the outer layer and moisturizing the skin by loosening scales on the skin. It also helps to enhance the absorption of Betamethasone in the skin.

Use of Betnovate S Oint:

Betnovate S Ointment is prescribed for the treatment of thickening of the outer layer of the skin and dry skin diseases associated with psoriasis, Keratosis palmaris et plantaris (abnormal thickening of the skin on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet), chronic eczema or allergic skin diseases, endogenous eczema or atopic dermatitis, seborrhoeic eczema (scaly patches and redness on the scalp), Dyshidrosis lemellosa sicca (itching, dry, squamous vesicles on palms of the hand, sides of fingers or foot-soles), lichen planus and lichen simplex, and ichthyosis (dry, scaly, thickened skin).

Usage Direction of Betnovate S Oint:

• Betnovate S Ointment is intended for external use only, in a dose and direction as prescribed by the physician.
• Do not skip or stop the medicine without the physician’s advice.
• Do not use more than the prescribed quantity.

Precaution & Related information of Betnovate S Oint:

• Betnovate S Ointment should be used with caution in patients with a history of local hypersensitivity to corticosteroids or any of the excipients in the preparation.
• If found any other complications, inform the physician immediately.
• Appropriate antimicrobial therapy should be used whenever treating inflammatory lesions which have become infected. Any spread of infection requires withdrawal of topical corticosteroid therapy and administration of appropriate antimicrobial therapy.
• Topical corticosteroids should be used with caution in psoriasis as rebound relapses, development of tolerances, risk of generalized pustular psoriasis, and development of local or systemic toxicity due to impaired barrier function of the skin have been reported in some cases.
• Prolonged application to the face is undesirable as this area is more susceptible to atrophic changes.
• If applied to the eyelids, care is needed to ensure that the preparation does not enter the eye, as conjunctival irritation, cataract, and glaucoma might result from repeated exposure.
• Topical corticosteroids are sometimes used to treat dermatitis around chronic leg ulcers. However, this use may be associated with a higher occurrence of local hypersensitivity reactions and an increased risk of local infection.
• Product contains paraffin. Instruct patients not to smoke or go near naked flames due to the risk of severe burns. Fabric (clothing, bedding, dressings, etc) that has been in contact with this product burns more easily and is a serious fire hazard.
• Do not accept if the tagger is broken.
• Use the built-in pin on the cap to pierce the tagger.
• Consult with the physician during pregnancy & lactation.
• Keep out of reach of children.

Storage condition of Betnovate S Oint:

Keep in a cool place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Do not freeze.
