Rosuvastatin 20mg
- Arvast 20 Tablet Overview:
Arvast 20 Tablet is prescribed to reduce 'bad' cholesterol and triglyceride levels, while increasing 'good' cholesterol in the blood. High levels of fatty substances and bad cholesterol can clog blood vessels, which may raise the possibility of chest pain, heart attack, or stroke. By lowering cholesterol levels, this medicine helps lower the risk of heart attack and stroke. It is recommended when dietary changes and exercise alone have not been sufficient to manage cholesterol levels.
Composition of Arvast 20 Tablet:
Each film coated Arvast 20 Tablet contains: Rosuvastatin Calcium equivalent to Rosuvastatin 20 mg and Excipients q.s.
Colour: Titanium Dioxide.
- Uses and Benefits of Arvast 20 Tablet:
Arvast 20 Tablet is mainly used to reduce LDL ("bad") cholesterol and triglycerides, while increasing HDL ("good") cholesterol in the blood.
Arvast 20 Tablet helps lower the risk of heart attacks and strokes and also slows down the progression of atherosclerosis.
- How Arvast 20 Tablet Works:
Arvast 20 Tablet contains rosuvastatin which belongs to a group of medicines called ‘statins’. It works by inhibiting an enzyme in the liver called HMG-CoA reductase, which is responsible for cholesterol production. As a result, it lowers overall cholesterol levels, reduces the risk of plaque buildup in the arteries (atherosclerosis), and helps prevent heart-related issues like heart attacks and strokes.
- Dosage of Arvast 20 Tablet:
Usage Direction
Take Arvast 20 Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor, and follow the recommended dosage and schedule. Arvast 20 Tablet should be swallowed as whole without crushing, chewing, or breaking it, and ideally at the same time each day. Do not stop or alter the dose of Arvast 20 Tablet without consulting your doctor, as this may prevent you from achieving the desired outcome. Regular monitoring of your cholesterol and triglyceride levels during your treatment may improve your condition. Ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any administration procedures you do not understand.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose of Arvast 20 Tablet, take it as soon as it is remembered. If it is time for your next dose of Arvast 20, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Avoid taking two doses to compensate for a missed one.
Over Dose
If you accidentally take Arvast 20 Tablet more than your prescribed dose, seek immediate medical advice, as this may lead to serious side effects.
- Contraindications of Arvast 20 Tablet:
Do not take Arvast 20 Tablet if you are hypersensitive or allergic to Rosuvastatin or any of the ingredients of this medicine, have liver & severe kidney disease, repeated or unexplained muscle aches or pains, thyroid problems, lung disease, or regularly drink large amounts of alcohol or you are over 70 years.

Before starting Arvast 20 Tablet, inform your doctor if you have previously used any cholesterol-lowering medications, have heart problems, high blood sugar or diabetes, or have a history of myasthenia (a condition causing general muscle weakness, including eye muscles and, in some cases, muscles involved in breathing), as Arvast 20 Tablet may worsen this condition.
